Derry The Derry Wireless City network has now been live for tourists and local resident access for over 3 months. The formal launch of the service is still to take place, but already without anything to tell them that the service is available, hundreds of users are regularly accessing the internet, processing several Gigabits of data each day and proving the popularity of the system. "With this citywide Wi-Fi network, we are showing the same Derry innovation and entrepreneurial spirit that built the Historic Walls of Derry in the 17th century which was, like today's, quite an achievement for its time. We will continue to be at the leading edge of using technology as an essential part of our city experience and competitive advantage for the whole community in creating greater economic and commercial opportunities," said Mark Lusby, Economic Development Manager for Derry. From it's first phase, the network has expanded to cover areas outside the Walled City and plans to expand both the use and the coverage of the network continue.
